Hmmm, those ads

I added an "Amazon Shopping" bar to the side.  It's supposed to have relevant items to complement my blog that are available on Amazon, I'm not sure I ever advocated smoking a pipe on here, did I?  If you watch long enough Jackal Pipes will pop  up on the shopping block.  Oh well.  I guess beggars can't be choosers now can they?

I've added a mp3 clip bar so if you want to listen to music just click on it.  Right now I have  country music available, next week I'll probably switch to rap and hip hop because I am equally addicted to both genres with no sign of it switching in favor of one over the other anytime soon.

On the bottom of my blog there are some interesting little gadgets with seasonal fruits/veggies available by state, just click the drop down and go to your state.  The other is allegedly healthy tips, apparently it is more ads than anything, but I'm leaving it there to balance the blog's look for now.

Do I need to add anything or is it fine like it is?

Stress and Binge Eating

I've been doing all of the above the past few days and I'm over it as of right now.  I feel bloated, tired, sick, and miserable.  I don't know how people manage to overeat all the time.  3 days of eating whatever, whenever, and as much as I want  has made me almost comatose.  Yesterday I WAS comatose.  I ate fried okra and slept nearly 15 hours.  Carbs and my body simply do not get along at all.  I have to pick one of two choices, condition myself to eat carbs again which will result in weight gain again, or condition myself to stay far far far away from most carbs.  The exception being whole grains which don't seem to bother me too much.  Bleached, white cornmeal, which was the coating on the okra, sends me to sleep for a long long time.  I don't like that. So I have made the decision.  No more carbs.

I'm stressed because even after my husband's check was deposited, the mortgage payment came out, the electric bill came out, groceries and gas came out and there was less than 20 dollars left to do us for TWO WEEKS!  My solution was to eat.  I don't normally have that kind of reaction.  I usually dig in and live frugally as possible.  My friend LeAnn used to say I pinched pennies so hard ol' Abe begged and cried for mercy.

I guess ol' Abe has been getting his revenge.  I don't have a penny to my name, or checking account for that matter.  But is that a reason/excuse to wreck/sabotage my weight loss goals?  No.  It's just an excuse. and here I am in the NO EXCUSES Zone.

I have been my own worst enemy the past 3 days.  Bad Bad me.

Finally!

Back under 200 pounds.  This yo yo weight is driving me insane!  I was stuck last year at 220 and there was little to nothing I could do, diet wise, to make it budge.  I added walking to my routine and it started coming off.  Now I've had to add weights to make it move again.  Now I'm going to ask that fateful question, what next?

Proper Diet
Pilates
Walking/Running
Weights

Umm, not a lot left except biking, (meh), swimming and zumba, no where to swim and Zumba just doesnt' appeal to me.

Looks like it'll have to be just advancing to the next higher levels on all of the above doesnt' it?

I suppose you're hungry for a little supper?

Maybe  a little snackage?

As far as snacks during the day, keep it around 150 calories.  Easily enough done by utilizing those prepackaged snacks. M&M now has a pretzel m&m at exactly 150 calories instead of the plain or pnut m&m's at 250 calories.  So save yourself 100 calories!  Need a little drink?  Go for unsweetened tea (or sweeten it with stevia), coffee, flavored waters (Hint, MetroMint, Life Water to name a few of my favorites) or, heaven forbid, a diet soda if you insist on poisoning/self sabotaging yourself.

You can have fresh fruit ,not that canned stuff unless it's all you have You can even have a cookie or two, just look at the nutrition label very closely.

Supper?

I love to marinate sliced portabella caps in burgundy cooking wine, a little sea salt and pepper for about 30 minutes then sprinkle with mild cheddar, cover loosely with aluminum foil pop in the oven on 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, then remove the foil put back in the oven about 5 minutes or until the cheese is nice and bubbly.  Serve with a side salad and half a toaseted toufouyan bagel with a little cream cheese on it.  For a little dessert, fresh grated coconutor rinsed prepacked coconut if you have it, roasted, served over madarin oranges that have been drained and rinsed.

My dad used to make the following salad:

1large bag prepared baby salad greens
2 cans tuna drained
1 large tomato cut into chunks
1 cup grated mild cheddar
Toss it all together and serve your favorite dressing ON THE SIDE.

To that I have added
2 tbsp Ground flax seed (usually in the dressing)
2 tbsp Flaxseed oil drizzled over the greens
1 cup chopped black olives
1/4 cup each chopped green, orange, red, yellow, chocolate sweet peppers
1 cup sliced radishes
1 cup carrot shreds
1/2 cup raw almond slivers
toss in a huge salad bowl, serve dressing on the side.  Serve with toasted toufoyan(I will eventually learn to spell it right lol!) bagel pieces.
For dessert make organic brownies, serve warm with fat free cool whip.

Serve Sherried Rosemary Chicken breast (recipe is about 2 pages back) with a side of whole grain couscous and fresh mixed veggies.

Thinly sliced roast beef over whole grain couscous or baby spinach drizzled with your favorite vinaigrette, plus all the fresh veggies you can stand. Dessert stir cocoa into fat free coolwhip then freeze.  serve as you would ice cream.

Core and slice 2 yellow apples and layer over boneless pork chops, sprinkle a little sea salt and mild cheddar over them, cover loosely then bake in a 450 degree over for about 25 minutes.  Serve with mixed veggies and a whole grain pasta of your choice.  Dessert: Mixed fruit (drained and rinsed) with a dollop of fat free coolwhip.

Shiratake spaghetti noodles prepared according to directions, brown and drain ground chicken, serve with spaghetti sauce of your choice and a side salad.  Dessert, jello with fesh fruit.fruit

Notes on Jello and Coolwhip: both are generally low calorie anyway so I don't even go with the sugar free varieties.  If given a choice I will go for the sugar laden variety before I'll opt for artificial sweeteners of any kind.

Sauces and dressings, pay attention to sodium content. If it has more than 10% of your daily allowance RUN!

Hope you all have a good day because it's almost time for me to go to work.

OMG! NEW NEW NEW ADDICTION!

While perusing the 'water' aisle at a local grocer, looking for someting, ANYTHING, to drink besides plain old bottled water, I stumbled across several unsweetened  flavored waters.  By unsweetened, they mean no sweetener of any kind real or fake.  There's Hint water that has a 'hint of flavor to it.  I'm okay with it as long as the price remains $1 a bottle.

However, that isn't the flavor I fell in love with.  The 'bottler' goes by the name  Metromint.  All of their flavors have mint in them.  Get this Mint C-H-O-C-O-L-A-T-E flavored water.  I've always joked that when they invented chocolate flavored carrots to let me know, I'll settle for chocolate flavored water.  Its taste reminds me of something close to an Andes Mint.  The mint flavor is a bit stronger than the chocolate.  I found the colder the water the more chocolate you can taste.  It has zero calories.  I drank 3 of them today before I'd realized what I'd done.

Everything that I've read says that mint helps curb hunger, but I'm thinking it may be peppermint, though I will admit that I feel rather full with all that I've drunk today.  Hunger has never really been a problem for me it's always been lack of will power that is my down fall..

I highly recommend metromint, any of the flavors, not just the chocolate flavored.  Go ahead, try it!  Then let me know what you think.
